Having an ALT Character can always be a lot of fun as well as a useful investment. I started mine as I read about a loadout for the Gallente Catalyst. It was solely fittedfor one purpose: suicide-ganking. “Insta Poops” was born a few moments later.
I chose a Gallente character, as it is quicker to increase your hybrid-turret and Gallente destroyer skills. And although attacking a retriever in a 0.5 belt didn’t have the outcome I anticipated, I started harassing loads of people over there in Gallente space. I can-flipped Ospreys mining or killed older characters than Poops was back then. Using an ALT Character I didn’t care who my opponent was. I was quite surprised, that I could lay down a nice path of disaster with this unskilled pilot. But after a while harassing noobs really got boring and mostly predictable, so I needed a new profession for my little capsuleer.
With my MAIN Character I tried everything from mining to production. What I didn’t do was trading. Why not give Insta Poops the chance to proof his abilities acting as a ruthless marketeer? As I’m quite a lazy person, I never wanted to hop through hundreds of systems just for some dirty ISK. I had to find a hub that offered the best opportunities for station-trading. Rens, Hek? Nope… Firstly I already was in Gallente space, secondly I always wanted to see this nasty dustbowl packed with sinful characters called Jita. Autopilot programmed, feet put up on the console I slowly made my way to a region called “The Forge”.
This was one week ago. As a start DocFloyd transferred 2 Mio. ISK to my account and I was ready for my first deals. To my surprise I spotted a lucrative module that could make a nice start. Cold-gas arcjet thruster. Everybody needs them and the buy-orders where around 30.000 ISK, whereas they where sold at 300.000 ISK. That’s what I call a margin! I didn’t think twice and invested all my money into this transaction. And it worked for a while…
It’s one week later now and I have a good amount of offers running. My buy orders, sell orders and the money I have in my wallet exceeded 100 Mio. ISK today. Not bad for one week I guess. And it’s just my ALT that I don’t guard like gold.
What I discovered in this short time is, that trading is just like PvP. You thought you found the perfect module to trade? You made lots of ISK with it, so why not invest even more? Beware! People find your lucrative goods like vultures find corpses. This is a hard business, but I still enjoy checking my goods and watching my wealth grow.
